Hello out there... Hopefully we have had more of our school nurses joining the National Association of School Nurses (NASN) because the NASN is our ace in the hole to help us in our schools. The VSP coupons for the kids and now the Prescription Drug Cards that we can give out to students AND family members to help reduce prescription costs are just a couple of the great benefits. Then of course we have our School Nurse publication and a plethora of research data at our finger tips. NASN is ALL ABOUT US. Many of the schools in Clark County are purchasing memberships for their nurses as membership benefits everyone.
And did you know that if you are a New Member or an Old Member that recruited a never before member you need to send Deborah Pontius your name:

DO NOT DELAY - encourage your non-member co-workers to JOIN NOW!!!!!!
Thanks, Dottie Jones, NSASN Membership Chair

Are you among the 135 Nevada nurses who currently belong to the Nevada State Association of School Nurses? Please consider joining our organization. We are the only professional organization that represents school nurses and school nursing issues exclusively. Acting individually it is impossible for school nurses to deal effectively with the multitude of issues that affect our practice. However by working together we can advance the practice of professional school nurses and ensure that all Nevada children are healthy and ready to learn. Click here to join/renew your membership. |

"School nursing is a specialized practice of professional nursing that advances the well being, academic success, and life-long achievement and health of students.
To that end, school nurses facilitate positive student responses to normal development; promote health and safety, including a healthy environment; intervene with actual and potential health problems; provide case management services; and actively collaborate with others to build student and family capacity for adaptation, self-management, self advocacy, and learning."
(Adopted at the NASN Board of Directors meeting, 2010.)
